Why dental professionals recommend them
Leading dental hygienist Michelle Strange, MSDH, RDH, explains why she recommends BasicBites to her patients with dry mouth.
“Through my experience with Sjögren’s syndrome and my background as a dental hygienist, I’ve seen how dry mouth impacts oral health. BasicBites are a simple and enjoyable way I include support for oral pH and enamel in my daily routine.”
Brooke Crouch, RDHRegistered Dental Hygienist
Why BasicBites are essential when your mouth is dry
Most dry mouth sprays, rinses and gels focus on moisture. BasicBites provide a burst of moisture, then go further with key nutrients found in healthy saliva. It’s a new category we call Daily Enamel Nutrition™.

A smarter approach to your oral microbiome
No killing bacteria
Antiseptic rinses wipe out bacteria, including the beneficial bacteria needed for enamel health.
No foreign live microbes
No outside microbial strains that may never adapt to your unique oral microbiome.
Feeds the good bacteria you already have
BasicBites nourish the beneficial bacteria already living on your teeth, helping them thrive.
Feed Your Enamel™
BasicBites combine arginine bicarbonate and calcium carbonate, nutrients also found in healthy saliva, in a soft chew that coats teeth directly. Linking arginine to bicarbonate, the same natural buffer your saliva uses, neutralizes plaque acids on contact while fueling good bacteria to keep working.
Like your gut, your mouth has a microbiome
Some bacteria on your teeth make acids that weaken enamel. Protective ones turn arginine, a nutrient in healthy saliva, into natural acid buffers. With dry mouth, and overnight when saliva slows, those protective bacteria get less of the arginine they rely on. BasicBites deliver it directly to your teeth.
- Prebiotic
Arginine feeds the good bacteria
Beneficial bacteria already living on your teeth use arginine as fuel.
- Postbiotic
Bacteria make natural buffers
They convert arginine into alkali that immediately neutralizes plaque acids and supports a healthier pH.
- Enamel support
Calcium goes to work
In a coordinated process with arginine and bicarbonate, calcium supports enamel strength in that balanced environment.
- Microbiome support
A healthier balance builds
Used daily, BasicBites support a healthy, balanced oral microbiome.
Science from a world-renowned dental school
The technology behind BasicBites comes from decades of research by world-renowned dental school researchers at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, who studied how the bacteria on your teeth interact with saliva.

For adults and children six years of age and older, take one BasicBites soft chew twice daily, after morning brushing and again after brushing at bedtime. Chew to coat tooth surfaces or allow the chew to slowly melt in the mouth. Always supervise children while eating.
How long have BasicBites been available?
BasicBites have been available to consumers and dental professionals for more than 12 years.
BasicBites didn’t appear overnight. Dental professionals were among the first to recognize the science behind them, and for more than a decade they have used, stocked and recommended BasicBites as part of everyday oral care.
Are BasicBites a replacement for brushing or flossing?
No. BasicBites are not intended to replace brushing, flossing, or other traditional oral hygiene products. They are designed to provide additional daily protection and support as part of a complete oral care routine.
Are BasicBites sticky?
BasicBites are intentionally formulated to be slightly sticky. This helps the beneficial ingredients stay in contact with tooth surfaces.
Many customers prefer to let BasicBites slowly soften and dissolve in their mouth, almost like a delicious meltaway, giving the ingredients more time to bathe the teeth.
What is the source of arginine in BasicBites?
Arginine is an amino acid produced by our bodies, a building block of proteins, and naturally found in healthy saliva. The arginine in BasicBites is derived from plant sources.
Do BasicBites contain sugar, gluten, dairy, or soy?
No. BasicBites are sugar-free and do not contain gluten, dairy, or soy.
What are BasicBites sweetened with? Do they contain xylitol?
Maltitol syrup, a sugar alcohol that may reduce the risk of tooth decay. Each chew has just 4g. BasicBites contain no sugar and are xylitol-free.
Are BasicBites vegan?
Yes. BasicBites are made entirely with ingredients suitable for a vegan diet.
Are BasicBites kosher?
Yes. BasicBites are certified kosher OU-D. They contain no dairy ingredients; the OU-D designation reflects that they are made on equipment shared with dairy.
Where are BasicBites manufactured?
